Easy on the Eyes
In high school, I was given the opportunity to be a puppy raiser for the Guide Dogs of America program. Easy on the Eyes is a set of two books explaining the complete process of raising guide dogs for the blind and visually impaired. The first book explains how each dog is given, for a year, to a puppy raiser who is responsible for the health and basic obedience training of the dog. Book two outlines the testing and further training a dog receives once it is returned to the guide dog program.
These books are not only meant to inform but to inspire individuals to become more involved with Guide Dogs of America as well as other worthwhile organizations. Braille was used on the vellum slip cover, table of contents, and page numbers, allowing the reader to experience just one way blind and visually impaired individual communicate.
